천후궁

루강 천후궁은 타이완에서 가장 오래된 천후, 즉 어부들을 지키는 마조여신을 모신 사원이다. 해마다 3월 23일이면 마조여신의 탄생을 기리는 축제가 화려하게 펼쳐진다.

Lugang Mazu Temple

The Lugang Mazu Temple, also known as the Lukang Tianhou or Tienhou Temple, is a Chinese temple dedicated to the Chinese sea goddess Mazu, the deified form of the medieval Fujianese shamaness Lin Moniang, located at 430 Zhongshan Road in Lukang Township, Changhua County, Taiwan. It is one of the island's most famous and popular Mazu temples.

마조

중국 신화의 여신으로 천비 · 천상성모 · 천후라고도 한다. 항해를 수호하는 낭랑신(여신). 관세음보살 신앙이 중국 복건의 민간신앙과 합쳐져 만들어진 신으로 추측된다. 도교신앙이 퍼진 한자문화권 각지에서 숭배됐다. 중화권에서 세워지는 도교 사당들 가운데 관우와 더불어 가장 많은 수를 다툴 정도라고 한다. 본래 뱃사람들이 믿는 수신(水神)이었는데 점차 민간에 퍼져 중국의 중부 ·남부의 연해, 타이완[臺灣] 등지에 분포하고 인근 나라에까지 전파되었다.

Mazu

Mazu, also known by several other names and titles, is a Chinese sea goddess. She is the deified form of the purported historical Lin Mo or Lin Moniang, a Fujianese shamaness whose life span is traditionally dated from 960 to 987. Revered after her death as a tutelary deity of seafarers, including fishermen and sailors, her worship spread throughout China's coastal regions and overseas Chinese communities throughout Southeast Asia.
