에른스트 호프만 (1776-1822)

에른스트 테오도어 빌헬름 호프만은 흔히 E. T. A. 호프만이라는 필명으로 알려져 있는 독일의 후기 낭만주의 작가이자 작곡가이다. 프로이센의 쾨니히스베르크(칼리닌그라드)에서 출생하였으며 그림과 음악에 뛰어났고 대법원 판사를 지냈다. 대표 작품으로 단편 '칼로풍의 환상곡', '소야곡', '호두까기 인형과 생쥐 대왕' 등과 장편 '악마의 영액', '수고양이 무어의 인생관' 등이 있다. 자크 오펜바흐가 작곡한 오페레타 '호프만의 이야기'는 그의 단편 소설을 바탕으로 작곡한 오페라이다.

E. T. A. Hoffmann (1776-1822)

Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann was a Prussian Romantic author of fantasy and Gothic horror, a jurist, composer, music critic, draftsman and caricaturist. His stories form the basis of Jacques Offenbach's famous opera The Tales of Hoffmann, in which Hoffmann appears as the hero.

호프만의 이야기

자크 오펜바흐가 작곡한 오페라로, 프롤로그와 에필로그를 가지는 3막의 오페라이다. E. T. A. 호프만의 세가지 짧은 단편 소설 - 'Der Sandmann', 'Rath Krespel', 'Das verlorene Spiegelbild'을 기초로 쥘 바르비에와 미셀 카레가 프랑스어 대본은 작성하였다. 1881년 2월 10일 파리의 오페라 코미크에서 초연되었다.

The Tales of Hoffmann

The Tales of Hoffmann is an opéra fantastique by Jacques Offenbach. The French libretto was written by Jules Barbier, based on three short stories by E. T. A. Hoffmann, who is the protagonist of the story. It was Offenbach's final work, as he died a year before the premiere.
