제임스 딘 (1931-1955)

제임스 바이런 딘은 미국의 배우이다. 그가 연기자로서 출연한 작품은 "자이언트", "에덴의 동쪽", "이유없는 반항" 이렇게 3개의 작품이며 나머지 작품은 보조출연을 했다. 제임스 딘에 관련된 알려지지 않은 사실 가운데 하나로 제임스 딘의 시력은 물체를 겨우 흐릿하게 식별할 수 있는 수준이었고, 상징과도 같은 곁눈질은 시각장애 때문에 생긴 버릇이었다고 한다. 1955년 9월 30일 오후 5시 25분쯤 그는 자신의 포르쉐 550 스파이더를 몰고 가던 중 교통사고로 사망했다. 향년 24세.

James Byron Dean was an American actor. He is remembered as a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, as expressed in the title of his most celebrated film, Rebel Without a Cause, in which he starred as troubled teenager Jim Stark. The other two roles that defined his stardom were loner Cal Trask in East of Eden and surly ranch hand Jett Rink in Giant.
