다우리아 경관

몽골과 러시아에 걸친 이 곳은 몽골의 동부에서부터 러시아의 시베리아, 중국의 북동부로 이어지는 다우리아 스텝 생태 지역이다. 건기와 우기가 뚜렷하며 주기적 기후 변화로 인해 방대한 규모의 종 다양성과 세계적으로 중요한 생태계가 형성되었다. 초지와 숲으로 대표되는 다우리아 스텝에는 다양한 종류의 호수 및 습지가 있어 재두루미, 느시 등과 같은 희귀 동물이 서식하고 있으며, 취약하거나 멸종 위기에 놓여 있거나 위협을 받고 있는 수백만 마리의 철새들이 머무르며 서식한다. 아울러 몽골 가젤의 이동 경로로서 매우 중요한 곳이기도 하다.

Landscapes of Dauria

Shared between Mongolia and the Russian Federation, this site is an outstanding example of the Daurian Steppe eco-region, which extends from eastern Mongolia into Russian Siberia and northeastern China. Cyclical climate changes, with distinct dry and wet periods lead to a wide diversity of species and ecosystems of global significance.

몽골 가젤

몽골가젤 또는 차강제르은 소과에 속하는 중형 크기 영양의 일종으로 몽골의 중앙아시아 반건조 스텝 지대 그리고 시베리아와 중국 일부 지역에서 발견된다. 여름에 털 색깔은 연봉홍이 감도는 연한 갈색이지만 겨울에는 더 길고 희미해진다. 또한 궁둥이 부위에 하트 모양의 흰 반점이 특징적이다. 차강제르라는 몽골어 이름은 이 하얀색에서 따온 것이다.
