그레이트배리어리프

그레이트배리어리프 또는 대보초는 오스트레일리아 북동부에 위치한 세계 최대의 산호초 지대이다. 이것은 오스트레일리아의 해안 지형에서 가장 두드러진 특색이다. 여러 개의 암초와 900여 개의 섬으로 이루어져 있다. 퀸즐랜드주에 연한 산호해에 위치하며, 대부분이 그레이트배리어리프 해양공원으로 지정되어 있다. 유네스코 세계자연문화유산으로 지정되어 보호중이다.

Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300 km over an area of approximately 344,400 square km. The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia.

듀공

듀공(dugong)은 바다소목에 속하는 4종 가운데 하나인 대형 해양 포유류 동물이다. 현존하는 듀공과의 유일한 종이다. 가장 가까운 종으로는 스텔러바다소가 있었으나 지나친 밀렵으로 인해 18세기에 멸종하였다. 몸은 유선형으로 고래와 닮았으며 꼬리 또한 고래의 꼬리와 유사하다. 몸길이는 약 3m이다. 3-5cm 길이의 털이 드문드문 나 있다. 피부는 매우 두껍다.

Dugong

The dugong is a medium-sized marine mammal. It is one of four living species of the order Sirenia, which also includes three species of manatees. It is the only living representative of the once-diverse family Dugongidae; its closest modern relative, Steller's sea cow (Hydrodamalis gigas), was hunted to extinction in the 18th century.

쥐가오리

쥐가오리는 쥐가오리과에 속하는 가오리류의 일종이다. 학명은 모불라 모불라르(Mobula mobular)이며 동종이명으로는 모불라 야파니카(Mobula japanica)가 존재한다. 영어권 지역에서는 외형이 악마를 닮았다고 하여 데블 피시(Devil fish)나 데블 레이(Devil ray) 등으로 부르고 있다.

Manta Ray

Manta rays are large rays belonging to the genus Manta. The larger species, M. birostris, reaches 7 m (23 ft 0 in) in width while the smaller, M. alfredi, reaches 5.5 m (18 ft 1 in). Both have triangular pectoral fins, horn-shaped cephalic fins and large, forward-facing mouths.
