테오티우아칸

테오티우아칸은 멕시코의 자랑인 거대 유적이며 신대륙 발견 이전의 미주대륙에 세워진 가장 거대한 피라미드 건축물들이 위치해있는 곳이다. 그러면서도 누가 지었는지, 언제 지었는지 확실하게 알려진것 하나 없는 수수께끼 유적이다. 테오티우아칸이라는 이름은 또한 멕시코 중부에서 가장 광대한 넓이를 가진 이 도시가 문명 또는 문화의 중심지로서 언급되기도 한다.

Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan, is an ancient Mesoamerican city located in a sub-valley of the Valley of Mexico, located in the State of Mexico 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of modern-day Mexico City, known today as the site of many of the most architecturally significant Mesoamerican pyramids built in the pre-Columbian Americas.

케찰코와틀

케찰코와틀, 혹은 케찰코와친은 아스텍 신화에 나오는 날개달린 뱀의 형상을 한 신이다. 이름은 나우아틀어로 “깃털 달린 뱀” 또는 “케찰의 깃털이 달린 뱀”이라는 뜻이다. 뱀은 땅의 권력을 뜻하고 날개는 하늘의 권위를 나타낸다고 한다. 케찰코와틀은 마야 문명의 쿠쿨칸, 키체의 쿠쿠마츠와 대응되는 신이다. 이러한 콜럼버스 이전의 메소아메리카에서 깃털 달린 뱀 신에 대한 숭배는 촐룰라에 기반을 두고 있다.

Quetzalcoatl

Quetzalcoatl forms part of Mesoamerican literature and is a deity whose name comes from the Nahuatl language and means "feathered serpent" or "Quetzal-feathered Serpent". The worship of a feathered serpent is first documented in Teotihuacan in the first century BC or first century AD.
