오셀롯

오셀롯(Ocelot)은 고양이과에 속하는 육식동물이다. 겉모습이 고양이와 비슷하다. 오셀롯의 가죽은 표범이나 재규어와 비슷하기 때문에 귀하게 여겨진 적이 있었다. 이런 이유로 수십만 개체의 오셀롯들이 사냥을 당했으며, 1972년부터 1996년까지 멸종위기 "취약" 동물로 분류되었다. 2008년 지정된 IUCN의 멸종위기 동물 목록에 의하면 현재는 "관심 필요" 등급인 상태이다.

Ocelot

The ocelot is a wild cat native to the southwestern United States, Mexico, Central and South America. It is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List as the population is estimated to comprise more than 40,000 mature individuals and is considered stable. Its fur was once regarded as particularly valuable, but legal trade of its fur ceased decades ago.
