1956년 동계 올림픽

이탈리아 코르티나담페초에서 개최된 제7회 동계 올림픽이다. 이 대회 때까지 스케이트 경기는 야외에서 개최되었다. 총 32개국이 참가하였고 소련, 이란, 볼리비아 3개국이 처음으로 동계 올림픽에 참가했다.

1956 Winter Olympics

The 1956 Winter Olympics was a multi-sport event held in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, from 26 January to 5 February 1956. A total of 32 nations sent athletes to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Along with the Soviet Union, Bolivia and Iran competed at the Winter Games for the first time, making Bolivia the first completely Tropical nation to participate in a Winter Olympic. Korea, Liechtenstein, and Turkey returned after having missed the 1952 Winter Olympics, while Argentina, Denmark, New Zealand, and Portugal did not compete at these Games, after having participated in the previous edition.
