펑후제도

펑후군도는 64개의 크고 작은 섬들로 이루어져 있으며, 타이완의 서남쪽 공해상에 위치하고 있다. 때묻지 않은 청정해변과 태고적 신비를 간직한섬들은 풍부한 생태종의 서식과 더불어 기암괴석의 보고이며, 귀중한 문화유산과 역사유적지가 많은 곳이다. 더욱이 풍족한 양식어종과 각종 해산물은 군침도는 이곳 일품바다요리의 싱싱한 재료가 되고 있다. 이상적인 섬휴양지인 펑후는 사계절마다 다양한 경험을 할 수 있는 곳으로써 타이완 최고의 섬휴양지로 도약하고 있다. 펑후군도는 섬 전체가 해상스포츠와 수상레저 활동을 할 수 있도록 개발되어왔다. 북쪽해안지역은 수상레저활동을 하기에 적합하도록 개발되었으며, 동쪽과 남쪽해안지역은 현무암의 기이한 절경을 관람할 수 있도록 개발되었다. 더욱이 펑후군도는 문석(文石)의 주산지로서 이탈리아를 제외하면 이곳이 세계 유일의 문석생산지이다.

Daguoye Columnar Basalt

During the Japanese occupation, a wharf was planned to be built at the seaside of Daguoye to improve marine communications between Magong Island and Xiyu. While the workers were digging earth and stones away, they found the impressive columnar basalt which had been buried and had been in sound sleep for thousands of years. We can say that it is the most accessible columnar basalt in Magong Island.
