피에트로 마스카니 (1863-1945)

피에트로 마스카니는 이탈리아의 오페라 작곡가이다. 레온카발로와 함께 베리즈모 오페라의 대표적 작가이다. 빵집 아들로 태어나, 법률계로 진출시키려던 아버지의 의사에 반하여 음악에 친근, 드디어 초지를 관철하여 음악의 길에 들어섰다. 밀라노 음악원에서는 폰키엘리에게 사사하여 푸치니와 동문이 되었고 고학생으로 공동생활을 영위한 일도 있다.

Pietro Antonio Stefano Mascagni was an Italian composer most noted for his operas. His 1890 masterpiece Cavalleria Rusticana caused one of the greatest sensations in opera history and single-handedly ushered in the Verismo movement in Italian dramatic music. While it was often held that Mascagni, like Leoncavallo, was a "one-opera man" who could never repeat his first success, L'amico Fritz and Iris have remained in the repertoire in Europe since their premieres. Mascagni said that at one point, Iris was performed in Italy more often than Cavalleria

카발레리아 루스티카나

카발레리아 루스티카나(시골 기사도)는 피에트로 마스카니가 작곡한 1막의 오페라이다. 조반니 베르가의 단편 소설을 기초로 조반니 타르조니 토체티와 귀도 메나시가 이탈리아어 대본을 완성하였고, 1890년 5월 17일 로마의 콘스탄치 극장에서 초연되었다. 1893년 이후, 이 오페라는 소위 카브/파브라는 이름으로 루제로 레온카발로의 팔리아치와 함께 공연된다.

Cavalleria rusticana

Cavalleria rusticana is an opera in one act by Pietro Mascagni to an Italian libretto by Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti and Guido Menasci, adapted from an 1880 short story of the same name (it) and subsequent play by Giovanni Verga. Considered one of the classic verismo operas, it premiered on 17 May 1890 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. Since 1893, it has often been performed in a so-called Cav/Pag double-bill with Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo.
