By the beginning of the 19th century, the Lazarevskoye Cemetery of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra was overcrowded, and it was decided to allocate a new site for burial. The cemetery, originally called Novo-Lazarevsky, was laid in 1823. In 1869-1871 in the northern part of the Novo-Lazarevsky cemetery a church-tomb was built,
