아마미검은멧토끼

아마미검은멧토끼는 토끼목 토끼과에 속하는 포유류의 일종이다. 아마미토끼 또는 류큐토끼로도 불린다. 아마미검은멧토끼속의 유일종이다. 아마미오 섬과 도쿠노 섬에서만 발견되는 어두운 털 색깔이 원시적인 토끼이다. 두 섬은 일본 규슈 남부와 가고시마현의 오키나와 섬 사이의 작은 섬이다.

Amami Rabbit

The Amami rabbit or Amamino kuro usagi, also known as the Ryukyu rabbit is a dark-furred rabbit which is only found in Amami Ōshima and Toku-no-Shima, two small islands between southern Kyūshū and Okinawa in Kagoshima Prefecture in Japan. Often called a living fossil, the Amami rabbit is a living remnant of ancient rabbits that once lived on the Asian mainland, where they died out, remaining only on the two small Japanese islands where they live today.
