구이린 (계림)

계림이라는 명칭은 이곳이 예로부터 계수나무가 많은 지역으로 ‘계수나무 꽃이 흐드러지게 피는 곳’이라는 의미를 담고 있다. 계림은 중국 강산에서도 보석 중의 보석으로 여겨지는 곳으로 독특한 카르스트 지형과 아름다운 이강이 조화를 이루어 세계적으로 유명한 관광지를 이루고 있다. 계림은 매년 음력 8월 가을바람이 시원하게 불기시작하면 계수나무 꽃(桂花)이 활짝 피면서 그 향기가 사방에 퍼져 여행의 황금시기를 이룬다.

Guilin

Guilin, formerly romanized as Kweilin, is a prefecture-level city in the northeast of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is situated on the west bank of the Li River and borders Hunan to the north. Its name means "Forest of Sweet Osmanthus", owing to the large number of fragrant sweet osmanthus trees located in the city.
