시라카미 산지

시라카미 산지(白神山地)는 일본 혼슈 북부 산악 지대에 있다. 사람의 발길이 닿지 않은 자연보호 구역으로, 한때 일본 북부의 언덕과 산기슭을 뒤덮었던 너도밤나무숲의 마지막 원시림이 남아 있다. 반달가슴곰과 산양, 그리고 87종의 조류가 자생하고 있다.

Shirakami-Sanchi

Situated in the mountains of northern Honshu, this trackless site includes the last virgin remains of the cool-temperate forest of Siebold's beech trees that once covered the hills and mountain slopes of northern Japan. The black bear, the serow and 87 species of birds can be found in this forest.

일본산양

일본산양은 소과의 동물로 일본열도에 서식하는 일본특산 포유동물이다. 우제목/경우제목 소과에 딸린 염소류이며, 몸길이 130cm, 어깨높이 66cm. 위턱에는 이가 없고 암수 모두 뿔이 있다. 뿔의 길이는 15cm 정도이며 뒤로 굽어 있다. 고산지대에 서식한다. 일본의 혼슈, 시코쿠, 큐슈 지방의 삼림에 서식하고 있다.

Japanese Serow

The Japanese serow is a Japanese goat-antelope, an even-toed ungulate mammal. It is found in dense woodland in Japan, primarily in northern and central Honshu. The animal is seen as a national symbol of Japan and is subject to protection in conservation areas.
