루이 암스트롱 (1901-1971)

루이 암스트롱은 미국의 가수, 재즈 음악가이다. 트럼펫과 클라리넷을 종종 불기도 했다. 1971년 7월 6일에 심근 경색과 폐암 등의 합병증으로 사망한 그는 '새치모'(Satchmo)라는 애칭으로 잘 알려져 있으며 아울러 그는 약 반세기에 걸쳐 연주활동을 하였다. 그는 재즈 사상의 거인이며 희대의 솔리스트, 재즈 보컬리스트의 제1인자로 평가받는다.

Louis Armstrong (1901-1971)

Louis Daniel Armstrong, nicknamed Satchmo, Satch, and Pops, was an American trumpeter, composer, singer and occasional actor who was one of the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and different eras in the history of jazz. In 2017, he was inducted into the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame.

Louis Armstrong Park

In the 1960s a controversial urban renewal project leveled a substantial portion of the Tremé neighborhood adjacent to Congo Square. After a decade of debate, the City created the present-day park from that land. This park was designed by New Orleans architect Robin Riley and was named after New Orleans-born Jazz legend Louis Armstrong.
