워룽 자이언트판다 공원 (쓰촨 자이언트판다 보호 구역)

워룽중화자이언트판다원 선수핑기지는 쓰촨성 원촨현에 위치한 판다 보호 및 연구 시설이다. 한국에서 많은 사랑을 받았던 판다 푸바오가 현재 머물고 있는 곳으로 알려지면서 한국 여행객들에게 중요한 성지가 되었다. 해발 약 1,700m의 고지대에 위치해 있으며 산으로 둘러싸여 공기가 맑고 기온이 서늘한데 이는 자이언트 판다가 가장 좋아하는 습하고 시원한 기후 조건이다. 청두 시내의 판다 기지에 비해 상대적으로 덜 붐비며 야외 방사장이 개방형으로 설계되어 있어 판다들의 활동적인 모습을 비교적 가까이서 관찰할 수 있다.

Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries - Wolong, Mt Siguniang and Jiajin Mountains

Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries, home to more than 30% of the world's pandas which are classed as highly endangered, covers 924,500 ha with seven nature reserves and nine scenic parks in the Qionglai and Jiajin Mountains. The sanctuaries constitute the largest remaining contiguous habitat of the giant panda, a relict from the paleo-tropic forests of the Tertiary Era. It is also the species' most important site for captive breeding.
