카오야이 국립공원

카오야이 국립공원은 1962년에 태국 최초 국립공원으로 지정되었다. 다양한 식물과 야생동물이 서식하고 자원이 풍부해서 1982년 아세안 헤리티지 공원으로 지정되었으며, 2005년 유네스코에 의해 두 번째 세계 자연 유산으로 지정된 거대한 숲이다.

Khao Yai National Park

Khao Yai National Park is a national park in Thailand. Khao Yai National Park is in the western part of the Sankamphaeng Mountain Range, at the southwestern boundary of the Khorat Plateau. The highest mountain in the area of the park is 1,351 m high Khao Rom.

아시아코끼리

아시아코끼리(학명: Elephas maximus)는 코끼리의 일종으로 아시아코끼리속(Elephas)에 속한 종 중 현존하는 유일한 종이다. 아시아의 인도·네팔·방글라데시·스리랑카·인도차이나 반도·인도네시아 군도 등지에 서식한다. 중국의 일부 남부 지방에서도 서식하나 이들은 모두 중국코끼리가 아닌 인도코끼리들이다.

Asian elephant

The Asian elephant, or Asiatic elephant (Elephas maximus), is the only living species of the genus Elephas and is distributed in Southeast Asia, from India and Nepal in the west to Borneo in the south. Three subspecies are recognised—E. m. maximus from Sri Lanka, E. m. indicus from mainland Asia and E. m. sumatranus from the island of Sumatra.
