헨델 (1685-1759)

게오르크 프리드리히 헨델은 독일에서 태어나 영국에서 활동한 바로크 시대의 작곡가이다. 헨델은 46곡의 오페라와 우수한 오라토리오를 비롯하여 오케스트라, 바이올린, 쳄발로, 오르간 분야에 이르기까지 많은 작품을 남겼다. 그의 음악은 명쾌하고 호탕하며 신선하여 생생한 리듬에 성악적이라고 평가된다.

리날도

리날도는 게오르크 프리드리히 헨델이 작곡한 3막의 오페라 세리아이다. 조코모 로시가 토르쿼토 타소의 서사시,《구원된 예루살렘》의 일화를 기초로 이탈리어 대본을 작성하였다. 리날도는 런던 공연을 위한 헨델의 첫 번째 오페라이자, 특별히 런던 무대를 위해 작곡된 첫 번째 이탈리아어 오페라이다. 그 당시 영국에서 전체 노래를 부르는 음악극으로서의 오페라 개념은 새로운 것이었다.

Rinaldo is an opera by George Frideric Handel, composed in 1711, and was the first Italian language opera written specifically for the London stage. The libretto was prepared by Giacomo Rossi from a scenario provided by Aaron Hill, and the work was first performed at the Queen's Theatre in London's Haymarket on 24 February 1711.

Handel House

The house, which may date back to the 15th century,[1] has its earliest documented mention in 1558. It was purchased in 1666 by Georg Händel, ducal valet and surgeon. His son George Frideric Handel was born here on 23 February 1685, and lived here until 1703, when he moved to Hamburg.
