예카테리나 2세 (1729-1796)
예카테리나 2세는 러시아 제국의 황후이자 여제다. 로마노프 왕조의 8번째 군주로, 본래는 프로이센 슈테틴 출신의 독일인이었다. 무능한 남편 표트르 3세를 대신해 섭정을 맡았으며, 화려한 남성 편력으로도 유명했다. 1762년 남편 표트르 3세를 축출하고 차르가 되었다

Ekaterina II (Catherine the Great, 1729-1796)
Catherine II, also known as Catherine the Great, born Princess Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst, was Empress of Russia from 1762 until 1796, the country's longest-ruling female leader. She came to power following a coup d'état when her husband, Peter III, was overthrown. Under her reign, Russia was revitalised; it grew larger and stronger, and was recognised as one of the great powers of Europe.
