북극곰

북극곰(Ursus maritimus)은 북빙양과 그 부속 바다 및 주위 육지를 아우르는 북극권에 널리 서식하는 육식성 곰이다. 북극곰은 잡식성인 코디악곰(Ursus arctos middendorffi)과 함께 세계에서 가장 큰 곰 중 하나이며, 두 종의 크기는 대략 같다. 성체 수컷의 몸무게는 대략 350 ~ 700 kg(770 ~ 1500 lb), 성체 암컷의 몸무게는 그것의 절반 정도이다.

Polar bear

The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is a hypercarnivorous bear whose native range lies largely within the Arctic Circle, encompassing the Arctic Ocean, its surrounding seas and surrounding land masses. It is a large bear, approximately the same size as the omnivorous Kodiak bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi).
