성 니콜라우스 (270-343)

니콜라우스는 3세기~4세기 동로마 제국에서 활동하였던 기독교의 성직자로, 산타클로스의 유래가 된 인물이다. 니콜라오, 니콜라스, 니콜라라고도 한다. 성인으로 시성되었으며, 축일은 12월 6일이다. 상징물은 황금이 든 세 개의 자루이며, 어린이·죄수·선원·그리스·벨기에·불가리아·시칠리아·세르비아·몬테네그로·마케도니아 공화국·슬로바키아·그루지야·로렌·러시아·대한 성공회의 수호 성인이다.

Saint Nicholas (270-343)

Saint Nicholas of Myra was an early Christian bishop of the ancient Greek city of Myra in Asia Minor (modern-day Demre, Turkey) during the time of the Roman Empire. He is revered by many Christians as a saint. Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nicholas the Wonderworker.

성 니콜라스 교회

성 니콜라스 교회는 성 니콜라스가 생을 마감한 이후 사람들은 그를 기려 그의 이름을 딴 교회를 지었다. 6세기에 지진으로 파괴됐으나 이후 복원을 마쳐 지금도 뮈라에 가면 성 니콜라스 교회에 가볼 수 있다. 2017년 10월 성 니콜라스의 무덤이 발견된 곳이기도 하다.

It is notable for being the burial place of St. Nicholas of Myra, a 4th-century Christian bishop of the ancient city of Myra, an important religious figure for Eastern Orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics and the historical inspiration for Santa Claus.
