트로이 고고 유적

4,000년의 역사를 간직한 트로이는 세계에서 가장 유명한 고고 유적지 가운데 하나로 유적지의 최초 발굴은 1870년 유명한 고고학자 하인리히 슐리만(Heinrich Schliemann)에 의해 이루어졌다. 과학적 측면에서, 이 광대한 유적은 아나톨리아가 지중해 국가들과 최초로 접촉한 가장 중요한 사례들을 보여 주고 있다. 더욱이 호메로스의 '일리아드(iliad)'에 기록된 기원전 13세기 또는 기원전 12세기에 그리스에서 온 스파르타·아테네 전사들의 트로이 포위 작전은, 이후 세계 예술가들에게 상당한 창의적 영감을 불러일으켰다.

Troy

Troy was a city in the far northwest of the region known in late Classical antiquity as Asia Minor, now known as Anatolia in modern Turkey, near (just south of) the southwest mouth of the Dardanelles strait and northwest of Mount Ida. The present-day location is known as Hisarlik. It was the setting of the Trojan War described in the Greek Epic Cycle, in particular in the Iliad, one of the two epic poems attributed to Homer.

일리아스

《일리아스》는 현존하는 고대 그리스문학의 가장 오래된 서사시이다. 이름은 트로이인들의 왕성인 ‘일리온’에서 유래하였다. '일리아스'란 이름은 '일리온의 노래' 란 뜻이다. 오디세이아(와 더불어 고대 그리스와 후대 서양의 문학예술과 문화의 전범으로 여겨지고 있다. 저자는 호메로스라고 알려져 있다. 주제는 그리스의 전설적인 전쟁인 트로이아 전쟁을 배경으로 51일간의 사건을 노래한 것으로 그리스의 장군인 아킬레우스가 중심이 되어 원한과 복수에서 파생되는 인간의 비극을 다뤘다.

Ilias

The Iliad is an ancient Greek epic poem in dactylic hexameter, traditionally attributed to Homer. Set during the Trojan War, the ten-year siege of the city of Troy by a coalition of Greek states, it tells of the battles and events during the weeks of a quarrel between King Agamemnon and the warrior Achilles.

아킬레우스

아킬레우스는 고대 그리스 신화에 나오는 영웅이다. 고대 그리스의 서사시, "일리아스"의 도입부는 아킬레우스의 분노로 시작된다. 아킬레우스는 테살리아 지방의 퓌티아의 왕 펠레우스와 요정 테티스의 아들이다.

Achilles

In Greek mythology, Achilles or Achilleus was a hero of the Trojan War, the greatest of all the Greek warriors, and is the central character of Homer's Iliad. He was the son of the Nereid Thetis and Peleus, king of Phthia. Achilles' most notable feat during the Trojan War was the slaying of the Trojan prince Hector outside the gates of Troy. Although the death of Achilles is not presented in the Iliad, other sources concur that he was killed near the end of the Trojan War by Paris, who shot him in the heel with an arrow.
