메트로폴리탄 미술관

메트로폴리탄 미술 박물관은 미국 뉴욕 주 뉴욕 맨해튼 어퍼 이스트 사이드에 있는 세계적인 미술관이다. 1866년에 파리에서 미국 독립기념일을 축하하기 위해 모인 미국인들의 회합에서 설립이 제안되어, 1870년에 소규모로 개관하였다.

With 7.06 million visitors in 2016, it was the third most visited art museum in the world, and the fifth most visited museum of any kind. Its permanent collection contains over two million works, divided among seventeen curatorial departments.

The Death of Socrates

The Death of Socrates (French: La Mort de Socrate) is an oil on canvas painted by French painter Jacques-Louis David in 1787. The painting focuses on a classical subject like many of his works from that decade, in this case the story of the execution of Socrates as told by Plato in his Phaedo. In this story, Socrates has been convicted of corrupting the youth of Athens and introducing strange gods, and has been sentenced to die by drinking poison hemlock.

카나가와의 큰 파도

가나가와 해변의 높은 파도 아래(일본어: 神奈川沖浪裏 가나가와오키나미우라)는 가쓰시카 호쿠사이가 제작한 목판화이다. 1825년 무렵에 간행된 우키요에 연작 《후가쿠 36경》 중 하나로, 거대한 파도와 배, 배경에 후지산이 그려져있다. 호쿠사이의 작품 중 가장 유명하며 세계에서 알려진 가장 유명한 일본 미술 작품의 하나이다. 현재 영국 런던의 대영박물관에 소장되어 있다.

The Great Wave off Kanagawa

The Great Wave off Kanagawa (神奈川沖浪裏 Kanagawa-oki nami ura, "Under a wave off Kanagawa"), also known as The Great Wave or simply The Wave, is a woodblock print by the Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai. It was published sometime between 1829 and 1833 in the late Edo period as the first print in Hokusai's series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. It is Hokusai's most famous work, and one of the most recognizable works of Japanese art in the world.
