타왕 사원

타왕 사원은 인도 아루나찰프라데시주 타왕에 위치한 사원이다. 대법당을 중심으로 수십 채의 하얀 집들이 집채를 이루고 있다. 타왕 수도원은 인도에서 가장 큰 수도원이며, 라오타 궁전 다음으로 세계에서 두 번째로 큰 수도원이다.

Tawang Monastery

Tawang Monastery, located in Tawang city of Tawang district in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, is the largest monastery in India and second largest in the world after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. It is situated in the valley of the Tawang River, near the small town of the same name in the northwestern part of Arunachal Pradesh, in close proximity to the Tibetan and Bhutanese border.

티베트 불교

티베트 불교는 티베트를 중심으로 중국 · 인도 · 몽골 · 만주의 일부 지방에서 믿는 대승불교의 종파이다. 종교적 스승인 라마를 중시한다고 하여 라마교라고도 불린다. 종교 지도자는 겔룩빠의 수장인 간덴 트리파이다. 불교가 전래되기 이전의 티베트 고유의 민속종교는 본교였다. 그러나 불교에 기반한 통치를 위해 티베트의 국왕이 직접 인도에서 부터 후기 대승불교를 도입했기 때문에 티베트 불교는 인도 불교의 직계로 여겨진다.

Tibetan Buddhism

Tibetan Buddhism is the form of Buddhist doctrine and institutions named after the lands of Tibet, but also found in the regions surrounding the Himalayas and much of Central Asia. It derives from the latest stages of Indian Buddhism and preserves "the Tantric status quo of eighth-century India." It has been spread outside of Tibet, especially due to the Mongol power of the Yuan dynasty (1271–1368), founded by Kublai Khan, that also ruled China.
