후타미가우라 부부 바위

후쿠오카시와 인접한 이토시마시 북부에 있는, 사쿠라이 후타미가우라, 통칭 '메오토이와(부부바위)'는 해안에서 약150ｍ의 바다 한가운데에 있는 2개의 바위에 큰 시메나와(금줄)가 연결되어 있다. 길이 30ｍ, 무게 1톤의 굵은 밧줄로 메오토이와(부부바위) 사이로 저무는 석양의 경관은 장관이다. '일본의 석양백선'에도 선정되었다.

Sakurai Futamigaura

Sakurai Futamigaura, more popularly known as "Couple Rock" or "Married Couple Rock," is located north of Itoshima City which is next to Fukuoka City. They are two huge rocks standing in the middle of the sea about 150 meters from the beachfront, joined together by a shimenawa. The shimenawa is a Shinto rope used for cordoning off sacred areas or as talisman against evil. It is 30 meters long and weighs 1 ton. Viewing the sun as it sets between the two rocks during summer solstice leaves a deep impression. This view has also been selected as one of Japan's top spots to view the sunset.
