적도 기념물

세계의 모든 국가 중에서 적도에 걸쳐있는 국가는 열두 국가밖에 없다. 그 열두 국가 내의 수많은 도시가 있지만, 단 하나의 도시가 북반구에서 지구 남부로 구분 되는 보이지 않는 줄에 위치한다. 폰티아낙, 이전의 서부 보르네오로 알려진 서부 칼리만탄의 지방의 수도, 적도에 바로 위치한 세계에서 유일하게 구별이 있다. 국제 승인이나 동의가 필요 없는 사실이다.

Equatorial Monument

Among all countries in the world, only twelve straddle the Equator. While among the countless cities within those twelve countries, only one sits right on this invisible line that separates the earth's southern from the northern hemisphere. Pontianak, capital of the province of West Kalimantan, formerly known as West Borneo, has the distinction of being the only city in the world that sits right on the Equator, a fact that needs no international approval nor agreement.
