산페드로 요새

세부 막탄 섬 항구 옆에 위치한 산 페드로 요새는 이슬람 등 외부 해적 세력의 친입을 막기위해 1738년 경 건축되었다. 이후 미국 식민지 시절에는 미군의 군 막사로 이용되었으며, 일본 식민지 시절에는 필리핀 포로군 수용소로도 이용되었다. 산 페드로 요새 내부에는 세부의 역사를 한 눈에 볼 수 있는 작은 박물관도 마련되어 있다.

Fort San Pedro

Fuerte de San Pedro is a military defense structure in Cebu, built by the Spanish under the command of Miguel López de Legazpi, first governor of the Captaincy General of the Philippines. It is located in the area now called Plaza Indepedencia, in the pier area of the city. The original fort was made of wood and built after the arrival of Legazpi and his expedition. In the early 17th century a stone fort was built to repel Muslim raiders. Today's structure dates from 1738 and is the oldest triangular bastion fort in the country.
