야타이 (나카스 포장마차, 中洲屋台橫丁)

전쟁이 끝난 직후, 황폐한 거리에 차례로 생긴, 간이 이동식 음식점(포장마차)이 야타이의 시작이다. 하카타의 밤의 명물로, 나가하마나 덴진 주변, 나카스 쇼오와 도오리, 나카스 나카가와 기슭등의 지역과 그 외에, 후쿠오카 시내 각지에서 볼 수 있다. 라면, 만두, 오뎅, 튀김, 구운요리등을 먹을 수 있으며. 시민은 물론, 관광객이나 출장 온 분들에게 인기가 있다.

Yatai Food Stalls

At dusk, tiny lights start to illuminate Fukuoka’s office district and the Nakasu area. Roadside food stalls are a Fukuoka specialty. There are several areas where food stalls can be found: the Tenjin neighborhood boasts the largest, the Nagahama area is closer to the fresh fish market, while the Nakasu entertainment district is near the waterfront. The number of food stalls streets hit a peak around 1965, with 400 stalls active at the time. Although at present numbering slightly under 200, they do bustling business. After hours, office workers and tourists sit around small counters and drink sake together harmoniously. It might take some courage to pass under the noren store curtain, but once you enter, the stallholders and regular customers will welcome you with a smile. This amiable atmosphere is pure Fukuoka.
