복희씨 (伏羲氏)

태호 복희씨 또는 포희씨는 중국 삼황 중 하나이다. 전설에서 복희는 인류에게 닥친 대홍수 시절에 표주박 속에 들어가 있던 덕분에 되살아날 수 있었다고 하는데, 다시 살아났다는 의미로 복희라고 했다고 전한다. ‘복희’란 희생(제사에 쓰이는 짐승)을 길러 붙여진 이름이다. 성씨는 풍(風)으로 전해진다.

Fuxi

Fuxi or Fu Hsi, also known as Paoxi, is a culture hero in Chinese legend and mythology, credited along with his sister Nüwa with creating humanity and the invention of hunting, fishing, domestication, and cooking as well as the Cangjie system of writing Chinese characters around 2,000 BCE. Fuxi was counted as the first of the Three Sovereigns at the beginning of the Chinese dynastic period.
