성 프란체스코 (1181-1226)

아시시의 성 프란체스코는 이탈리아의 로마 가톨릭교회 수사이자 저명한 설교가이다. 또한, 프란치스코회의 창설자이기도 하며, 프란치스코 사후 프란치스코회는 1회인 작은형제회와 카푸친 작은형제회, 꼰벤뚜알 작은형제회, 수도회, 2회 클라라 수녀회, 3회 재속회로 나뉘었다. 프란치스코는 생전에 사제 서품을 받은 적은 없었지만, 역사적으로 유명한 종교인 가운데 한 사람이다.

Saint Francis of Assisi was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon and preacher. He founded the men's Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land. Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history.
