하마스

하마스는 이슬람 저항 운동 단체이다. 정당이자 준군사단체로서 이스라엘에 대한 무장 투쟁으로 널리 알려져 있다. 하마스는 “하라캇 알무카와마 알이슬라미야”의 아랍어 머리글자로서 “이슬람 저항 운동”을 뜻한다. 아랍어로 하마스는 알라를 따르는 헌신과 열정을 뜻하기도 한다.

Hamas

Hamas is a Palestinian Sunni-Islamic fundamentalist but pragmatic, militant, and nationalist organization. It has a social service wing, Dawah, and a military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. It won the 2006 Palestinian legislative election and became the de facto governing authority of the Gaza Strip following the 2007 Battle of Gaza.
