익선동 한옥거리

익선동은 종묘와 운현궁을 비롯해 261년간 조선의 정궁으로 사용된 창덕궁으로 둘러싸여 있는 사대문 안 핵심지역으로, 지리적으로도 종로구 정중앙에 위치해 있다. 종로3가역 6번 출구로 나와 골목길을 따라 북쪽으로 올라가다보면 길에 면한 한옥들이 옹기종기 모여 있는 도심 속 한옥 섬, 익선동 한옥마을을 만날 수 있다. 조선시대 정치·행정의 중심지였던 익선동 일대는 일제강점기에 노선상업지역으로, 70년에는 서울시 도시계획으로 도심부 전체가 상업지역으로 용도지정 되면서 다양한 풍류문화와 연계한 업종들이 들어섰던 엔터테인먼트의 중심지 역할을 했었다. 현재 익선동은 음식점과 서비스업, 도·소매업 상가 330여개(2018년 기준)가 밀집한 상업지역으로, 한옥을 개조한 특색 있는 상가를 찾는 사람들의 발길이 이어지고 있다.

Ikseong-dong Hanok Village

The Ikseong-dong Hanok Village spans a length of around 801 m, connecting Ibis Ambassador, Insadong, and Nakwon Sanga, or Nakwon Music Market, and is home to all kinds of fusion-concept cafes, restaurants, and shops that contrast with the more traditional vibe of the neighboring Insadong area. In fact, it's one of the most popular sights for dating in the city! Despite the relatively narrow alleyways of the village, you are in for a treat during the winter season or night hours with the quaint, yet striking scenery all around.
