4711 is a traditional German Eau de Cologne by Mäurer & Wirtz. Because it has been produced in Cologne since at least 1799, it is allowed to use the geographical indication Original Eau de Cologne. The brand has been expanded to various other perfumes and products besides the original Echt Kölnisch Wasser, which has used the same formula for more than 200 years. The original 4711 store at Glockengasse 4 in Cologne is a popular tourist attraction.

오 드 콜로뉴 향수가 처음 만들어진 공장이 있던 곳이 구 시청사 건너편에 있는 파리나 하우스(Farina Haus)라는 건물인데, 1709년 만들어진 이 향수 공장은 오늘날까지 남아있는 향수 공장으로는 세계에서 가장 오래 된 것이라고 한다. 파리나 하우스라는 이름은 지오반니파리나(Giovanni Maria Farina), 즉 오 드 콜로뉴 향수의 개발자의 이름을 딴 것이다. 오늘날에는 파리나 하우스가 향수 박물관(Duftmuseum)으로 새단장하여 일반에 공개 중이다. 오 드 콜로뉴 향수의 역사, 향수를 만들 때 사용되는 도구나 기계, 모조 향수를 적발하기 위한 방법, 역대 향수병이나 향수의 역사 등에 대한 자료가 전시되고 있다.

The 4711 Cologne House is undoubtedly the prettiest smelling house in Cologne. Located at Glockengasse no. 4, it is the birthplace and flagship store for the most famous brand of eau de cologne (water from Cologne). The number 4711 refers to a house number assigned during the French occupation at the end of the eighteenth century. Made since 1792, the original fragrance was known as Echt Kölnisch Wasser. The same formula is still being used today. The ground floor of the house is home to a store selling the famous perfume. On the first floor is a small museum about the history of Cologne 4711.
