삼별초 항쟁 (1270-1273)

삼별초의 난은 고려-몽골 전쟁이 끝나고서 삼별초가 제국 몽골에 대항해 일으킨 항쟁이다. 삼별초의 대몽항쟁이나 삼별초의 항쟁으로 불리기도 한다. 오늘날 삼별초의 난은 외세 침략에 완강히 대항한 국가 영웅으로 추앙받는다. 다만 무인 사병 집단의 저항 정도로만 보는 일부 시각도 존재한다. 1978년 삼별초의 난을 기리려는 기념물이 제주도에 세워졌다. 진도에 있는 용장산성 같은 유적지는 관광지로 유지된다.

Sambyeolcho Rebellion (1270-1273)

The Sambyeolcho Rebellion was a Korean rebellion against the Goryeo dynasty that happened at the last stage of the Mongol invasions of Korea. It was suppressed by the Goryeo and the Mongol Yuan dynasty. After the rebellion Goryeo became a vassal of the Yuan dynasty, division of the Mongol Empire.
