산 마르코 대성당

동로마 건축 양식의 가톨릭 성당으로 복음사가 마르코에게 봉헌되었고, 베네치아 총대주교좌가 있는 곳이자 세계적인 관광명소이다. 산 마르코 광장 동쪽 끝부분에 자리하고 있으며 인근에 있는 두칼레 궁전과 연결되어 있다. 금박 모자이크로 벽면이 가득 장식되어 있기 때문에 '황금의 교회(Chiesa d'Oro)'라는 별칭으로도 불린다.

Basilica di San Marco

The Patriarchal Cathedral Basilica of Saint Mark, commonly known as Saint Mark's Basilica, is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, northern Italy. It is the most famous of the city's churches and one of the best known examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture. It lies at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge's Palace.

비잔틴 미술

비잔틴 미술(Byzantine art)은 4세기 경부터 1453년의 콘스탄티노폴리스의 함락에 이르는 비잔틴 제국의 예술품을 가리키는 데 쓰이는 용어이다.비잔틴예술이 르네상스예술에 큰영향을 주었기때문에 비잔틴 미술은 르네상스 미술의 조상이자 원시 르네상스미술이기도하다.

팔라 도로

팔라 도로(Pala d'Oro)는 이탈리아 베네치아 산마르코 대성당 제단 뒤에 장식된 제단화이다. 팔라 도로는 2개의 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 아래 부분은 복음사가 마르코의 이야기, 베네치아 공화국 원수 (도제)의 초상 , 하리스토스를 그린 법랑이 있다. 1102년 베네치아 공화국 총독 오르델라포 팔리에로의 명령으로 콘스탄티노플의 명공들이 제단 장식으로 만든 것이다.
