피플파워 혁명 (1986.2.22-2.25)

피플 파워 혁명은 필리핀에서 1986년 페르디난드 마르코스 독재정권을 몰아낸 민주화 혁명이다. 대한민국의 4.19 혁명처럼 독재 정권을 몰아낸 혁명으로 알려져 있다. 민중들이 코라손 아키노를 진정한 승자라고 요구한 결과 페르디난드 마르코스는 하와이로 망명하고 코라손 아키노가 6년 단임의 새 대통령으로 취임하였다.

People Power Revolution (1986.2.22-2.25)

The People Power Revolution was a series of popular demonstrations in the Philippines, mostly in Metro Manila, from February 22–25, 1986. There was a sustained campaign of civil resistance against regime violence and electoral fraud. The nonviolent revolution led to the departure of Ferdinand Marcos, the end of his 20-year dictatorship, and the restoration of democracy in the Philippines.

People Power Monument

The People Power Monument is a monument built to commemorate the events of the 1986 People Power Revolution. The monument is located on the corner of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue and White Plains Avenue in Barangay Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, Philippines. It was made by Eduardo Castrillo in 1993. It is about 0.90 kilometers from the EDSA Shrine, another monument built to commemorate the event.
