홍수전 (洪秀全, 1814-1864)

홍수전은 청 대 종교가, 혁명가. 태평천국을 건국한 사람이다. 광둥 성 태생이고 하카계 출신이다. 청 내에서 기독교에 기초한 종교 국가인 태평천국을 세워 청조에 반기를 들어 투쟁했다.

Hong Xiuquan (1814-1864)

Hong Xiuquan, born Hong Huoxiu and with the courtesy name Renkun, was a Hakka Chinese revolutionary who was the leader of the Taiping Rebellion against the Qing Dynasty. He established the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom over varying portions of southern China, with himself as the "Heavenly King" and self-proclaimed younger brother of Jesus Christ.

태평천국운동 (太平天國之亂)

태평천국의 난(은 장모의 난과 장발의 난으로 불리며, 1850년에서 1864년까지 중국 대륙에서 벌어진 대규모 내전이다. 교전 상대는 만주족 황실의 청나라 조정과 기독교 구세주 사상을 기반으로 한 종교국가 태평천국이었다. 태평천국의 난의 주요 무대는 강소성, 절강성, 안휘성, 호북성이었으나, 14년간의 전쟁 기간 동안 북서쪽 끝의 감숙성을 제외한 모든 중국의 성을 최소 한번 이상 태평천국군이 지나갔다. 태평천국의 난은 명청전쟁 이래로 중국 역사상 가장 대규모 전쟁이었으며, 인류 전체 역사를 통틀어도 가장 유혈낭자한 내전 중 하나로 손꼽힌다.

Taiping Rebellion (1850-1864)

The Taiping Rebellion, which is also known as the Taiping Civil War or the Taiping Revolution, was a massive rebellion or civil war that was waged in China from 1850 to 1864 between the established Qing dynasty and the theocratic Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. Commanded by Hong Xiuquan, the self-proclaimed brother of Jesus Christ, the goals of the Taipings were religious, nationalist, and political in nature; they sought the conversion of the Chinese people to the Taiping's syncretic version of Christianity, the overthrow of the ruling Manchus, and a wholesale transformation and reformation of the state.
