교토 국립박물관

일본에 4군데 있는 국립박물관의 하나. 천년의 수도 교토, 특히 헤이안시대(794–1185)부터 에도시대(1603–1868)을 중심으로 한 문화재를 수집하여 전시, 보존하는 동시에 연구도 한다. 1897년 "제국교토박물관"로 개관했으며 벽돌의 제국교토박물관 본관은 국가중요문화재로 지정되어 있다. 국립박물관 소장품 약 6000점과 기탁 품 약 6000점 합계 약 1만 2000점 중에서 상시 약 4000점을 상설전시. 조각과 서적, 염직, 옻칠공예, 회화, 불화 등 일본의 문화예술을 압도적인 스케일로 즐길 수 있다.

Kyoto National Museum

The Kyoto National Museum is one of the major art museums in Japan. Located in Kyoto's Higashiyama ward, the museum focuses on pre-modern Japanese and Asian art. The Kyoto National Museum, then the Imperial Museum of Kyoto, was proposed, along with the Imperial Museum of Tokyo and the Imperial Museum of Nara, in 1889, and construction on the museum finished in October, 1895. The museum was opened in 1897.

불교의 지옥

불교에서는 지옥(地獄)의 종류로서 팔열팔한지옥(八熱八寒地獄)이 있다고 여긴다. 하지만 팔열팔한 지옥은 최종단계의 지옥이며 심판을 받는 도중에도 각 관문마다 지옥이 구비되어 있다.
