인도네시아 이슬람

인도네시아의 인구는 2억 2천만으로, 세계 4위의 인구 대국이다. 이 중 85%가 이슬람교를 믿는다. 그러니, 자연스럽게 세계 최대의 이슬람 국가가 될 수밖에 없는 것이다. 나머지 15%는 기독교와 천주교, 힌두교, 불교 순이다. 인도네시아에서 절대적인 우위를 차지하는 이슬람교까지 포함한, 이 다섯 가지 종교가 바로 국가에서 인정하는 5대 종교다. 제한적이긴 하지만, 종교의 자유가 보장되는 나라다. 그런 의미에서 인도네시아는 우리가 흔히 생각하는 중동지역의 회교국가와는 사뭇 다르다. 그리고, 인도네시아의 주민등록증에는 종교 기재난이 있다는 것인데, 인도네시아 국민이라면 누구나 위의 다섯 가지 종교 중 한 가지를 택하여 자신의 주민등록증에 기재를 해야 한다. 당연히 주민등록증에 가장 많이 ‘선택’되는 종교는 단연 이슬람교다.

Indonesia Islam

Islam is the religion in Indonesia with most adherents, with 87.2% of Indonesian population identifying themselves as Muslim in a 2010 survey. Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, with approximately 225 million Muslims. In terms of denomination, the overwhelming majority (99%) adheres to Sunni Islam, while there are around one million Shias (0.5%), who are concentrated around Jakarta, and about 400,000 Ahmadi Muslims (0.2%). In terms of Islamic schools of jurisprudence, based on demographic statistics, 99% of Indonesian Muslims mainly follow the Shafi'i school, although when asked, 56% does not adhere to any specific school.
